Default New Project - Bowen Bullseye Mini Bust Coverted To Living Laser

I've been trying to get to this one for a while. Bought a Bullseye Mini Bust a while back and decided to make it my second coversion attempt. Want to make the Lethal Legion in MB form. I have Whirlwind already, so next up is the Living Laser!!!

Someone may have done this one before, but I figured it's worth a shot. Started with grinding off the bullseye from his forehead.

Started molding costume features next...

Helmet next. Tricky thing to mold.

Next up - Surfacing and Priming

Default Living Laser Project - Surfacing and Priming

Basic molding done. Added micro mask to the face and eyes to preserve the original paint.

Used Mr. Surfacer 1000 to even out the paint.

Primed up and ready to start painting....

Getting ready to start painting.

I'd forgotten all about LL. He has a great retro costume. Can't wait to see this one finished. Looks like your skills are getting sharper as well.

that is looking very good so far Simon.

Hoping for a Phase 6 with FS Statues of the following

Nighthawk
Moondragon
Mantis
Polaris and Havok (new ones need to be made because the Bowen ones are too expensive now)
The Red Guardian (The Defenders member-this one is a longshot)
and a REALLY GOOD Phoenix Museum Pose statue

Thanks guys! I am having one of those hyper-focused moments and am enjoying doing this. I appreciate the compliments.

Did a little painting today. Base coats only. Highlights and stuff will come later.

That head gear looked like a bike helmet at the start. This looks great.

Default Update July 9, 2015 - Work In Progress

Thanks for checking it out folks! Making steady progress. Tried various paint approaches but very happy with where I've landed. Here is what it looks like now. Almost done.

Should be done by the weekend. Will be posting some more shots. Hopefully they will be finish shots!

Looks excellent SW. That Bullseye was really a good choice for the base to build off of.

Looks really good. I agree about it being a good choice. I really love looking at conversions. It really is the best part of the hobby for me. Guess that's why most of my stuff is now custom pieces. Great work. You should be proud of it!

Thanks so much! I am really starting to get into the customizing hobby too! This is my third one now and I've got my mind set on a bunch more. Taking a sculpting class in the fall and how to gain enough skill to start making some from scratch too.

In the meantime, I think he's basically done. Here are some quick shots of him with my Whirlwind bust. So, two of the three Lethal Legion guys are here now!

And in my Avengers bad guys display!

Going to take some more shots this weekend.
