Default Rafael Albuquerque sketches from Niagara Falls Comic Con 2015

It was a 2 hour drive from my house to Niagara Falls, then I had to wait in line for 1.5 hours outside. There was no way that I was going to miss the opportunity of getting a Rafael Albuquerque sketch in one of my American Vampire HC.

Amanda Conner was signing for her many fans. Jimmy Palmiotti was kept busy signing for fans, as he had inked many of Amanda's art. During the middle of the signing, Jimmy excused himself from the signing and went over to Rafael's table, where he arranged for a commission. You know you've really made it when an industry veteran like Jimmy Palmiotti asks for a commission.

A couple of quick doodles just to make the last two books look special.

When it was revealed that Phil Hester was going to be one of the guests, I went ahead and purchased 2 of his hardcovers.

Here is the second sketch. Phil warned me that there was no guarantee that he would get to my sketch since his list was pretty full. He made it just in time before the show ended.

Of equal importance was to get Gerry Conway's autograph in the Man-Thing Omnibus HC.
This was probably his first and last Canadian Convention appearance. I paid for 4 autographs. Larry Hama autograph was form a previous show. Neal Adams did a quick doodle on the front page.

Those are some seriously nice sketches, especially by Rafael! I don't know if I would even call them sketches.

Congrats on all of that. Looks to me like it was totally worth it.

I went to the show on the last day, and there was definitely no guarantee of a sketch from anyone. It could have ended up with me getting autographs. Though, I had convinced myself prior to the show that if I were to only receive autographs, then it still would have been okay.

Picture of the Batcopter.

I should mention that there were a lot of people attending the con on the last day. the show was a success. There was a Fan Expo guy there, probably checking out the competition. It wasn't just any guy. It was Tiz, the unofficial face of Fan Expo. The guests at the show acknowledged him. Tiz is the person who trains all the volunteers at Fan Expo. He is the "go to guy" if you want someone to accompany someone like Alex Ross around. The guests, even the less known creators really like this guy.
