I had all the Prehistoric Scenes and Monster Scenes when I was a kid. I remember the Monster Scenes got banned because of parents complaining about the torture devices like the Pendulum.

Default Aurora Prehistoric Scenes Tyrannosaurus

I just found these images of the Aurora Prehistoric Scenes Tyrannosaurus as painted by Tory Mucaro over the weekend on this site...
http://culttvman.com/main/

I think Tory did an amazing job! Apparently, he's an ex-Mego employee! Once I track him down, I'm going to invite him over to Statue Marvels!

I only pray mine will turn out 10% as good as Tory's!

Hey Al! Great thread here. Believe it or not, I still have ALL of my Aurora Prehistoric Scenes models from my childhood. I'm working on getting them out for display. I actually have two original Aurora T-Rex's and I love them both!

There are also some great places that produce the kits that Aurora never did. I am really into them. This is my favorite place - The Alchemy Works!

http://thealchemyworks.com/index.php

I've bought a number of great kits off of them. I'm working on the Stegosaurus right now. Plus, hold onto your hat, they are making a full scale Sauropod! It's absolutely awesome. I have one on order. Here's the link to the what the kit will look like.

Auora " What If" Giant Sauropod

I will be visiting this thread and posting my kits as I put them out along with the customs that I have ordered from The Alchemy Works.

You have...TWO Tyrannosauruses?!?!? Holy! You are so lucky you saved all these! I could kick myself! Have you ever seen how much the originals go for on Ebay?

Thanks for the links! I'm glad someone else is into these as well! If you know anyone else, please invite them over!

Will do! I actually have a third one. It's the Revell version and is still in the box and wrapping. Got it at a garage sale a few years ago for $5. Quite the steal.

Funny story about my models. I actually have multiples of every kit. My Dad bought one for me and both of my brothers when we were kids. So, there were three of everything. I got into the dinosaur models and my brothers got into trains. So, they gave me their dinosaurs. I actually had a dinosaur platform with jungles and swamps that my dad built in the garage for me when I was a kid. If I can get the pictures from my Mom, I'll scan them and post them.

The prices on eBay are nuts. I'm amazed at how much some of the unopened kits go for. I'm going to try to get Mike Evans from Alchemy Works to become a member over here.

Please get those pics!!!! These models totally remind me of the bond my late Dad & I had when I was a kid & I eat up every tidbit about them! Do you know where I can find good scans of the box art?

Great idea getting those guys over here! I'd love to get this section movin'!

SW - Thanks for showing me this site...

It's really cool!

I just wish they produced the new dinosaurs as snap-tite models & not resin statues. I guess that's not an option on such limited runs?

Al, you are welcome. Had to step out to some meetings. The resin kits are awesome. They are very heavy and the Wonder Putty they sell on the Alchemy Works site is amazingly easy to use in securing the parts together. As it drives, you can even sculpt it to blend with the skin of the model. The Stegosaurus I'm putting together is so smooth, you cannot tell where the legs meet the body.

As for painting, I never use an airbrush. I do everything by hand. I do a lot of dry-brush technique and also do a lot of stippling with various types of cloth. That's how I did this Wonder Man kit that I got.....

Default New Prehistoric Scenes Kits

One of the greatest things about this hobby is that there are people that have started doing add-on kits for the Prehistoric Scenes line! The Alchemy Works is doing great stuff. I've bought a number of kits off of them. Right now, I'm working on this:

Stegosaurus and Baby

As you can see, it's a work in progress, but will look great when finished!

Another amazing kit they are doing is a full size Sauropod! I have it on order and it will be the largest model I've ever built. Here is a shot of what it will look like next to the Prehistoric Scenes Allosaurus kit.

I've also got a number of other kits from them that I haven't touched yet including a full size Wolly Rhino and an Iguanodon. As I get them done and displayed, I'll start posting them....

Dencomm the company that now owns the Monster Scenes and Prehistoric Scenes name is publishing a book on the old PS model kits. They also have a Prehistoric Scenes Facebook page. Is it possible that we may see some NEW Prehistoric Scenes models in the future? Only time will tell!!!
