Neat-o Nuff. I've been wanting one of those Zorro kits for ages, but the original Auroras are hundreds of dollars. Thanks for the link.

I have 2 airbrushes...but have never used either of them...I'm all by hand...I have over 30 different brushes for different applications and techniques...I kept telling myself I'd learn to use an airbrush...But when it comes down to it...It seems like cheating to me and I just can't bring myself to do it...

Hmmm...when I was a kid, my Dad & I painted the Aurora Models by hand, but the more pics I see, the more I'm convinced I want to learn how to paint with an airbrush.

I like the control I get with a brush..I can see the tip of it and I know where the paint is going...At my age...the hand to eye coordination is iffy at best when there is space involved between the source of the paint and the target...

Gotcha! I just figure if I'm going to start building models, I might as well learn air brush.

First, I need (and I should start a thread...)...

- Time
- Advice on what kind of airbrushes to buy
- To learn

It's gonna be awhile, unfortunately. I don't want to rush & screw these pieces up.

Just ordered up one of those Zorro kits.

Al I still paint most of my models with a brush. You can get great results with a brush and an airbrush can be a real pain to use - and clean.
If I had used my airbrush on the Phantom model I just finished, it would have taken me months. I do so much repainting and detailing before I'm satisfied that I'm always opening new jars of paint and cleaning brushes, but if I used an airbrush it would take 4 times as long. Loading paint into paint cups and cleaning them afterwards just isn't feasable to use on a plastic model that has a lot of color and detail. Plus there will always be finishing details that require a brush also.
I think you should try a couple of inexpesive Polar Lights or Toy Biz kits using a brush before you jump into airbrushing. They might come out a lot better than you think.

I just picked up the American Bison kit off of Amazon. I had a couple of the original Aurora Bison kits when I was a kid. The Buffalo was my favorite animal. I love the new Chris White box art for the Atlantis kit.
