Well, I finally got an item cross off my bucket list! I got to see John Fogerty last weekend and he was amazing! He played about 20-25 songs in one set. Mostly CCR stuff, but a few of his recent solo hits. I had great seats (row 6 - center of stage) and it only cost me $38 ($23 for ticket, $5 for parking, & $10 for fair entrance) - not bad to see a legend perform imo.

Here's a pic of the concert - sorry crappy camera on my phone (the guitarist on the left w/the black Les Paul is his son Shane Fogerty):

I still can't believe at 69 years old he was able to put out that much energy running and jumping. And, I actually have a new favorite CCR song - Ramble Tamble. Its absolutely amazing live.

If you're not watching the Foo Fighters series "Sonic Highways" on HBO, YOU SHOULD BE!
Friday nights Nashville/Country episode with Zac Brown was INCREDIBLE!
I absolutely HATE country music, but I was completely transfixed for the hour.

This is the truth. I'm keeping the entire series on my DVR. Its great for music history and the methodology FF is using to create songs is amazing. I was cracking up at Dave Grohl worrying about making a country song while in Nashville. I find it inspirational to seek out new music and explore the history of some of the bands/musicians they highlight in the series.

On a separate note, I found another song I really like. Its a mellow chill jam - kinda electronica but not really. Heard it on XM radio:

Glass Animals - Gooey

Just went through this entire thread and can't belive all the good **** it contains.
I've really been remiss in not including one of my favorite electronic duos of all time, The Crystal Method.
These guys just blew me away when I first heard their debut album "Vegas" almost by accident. Since then I've scarfed up every EP and LP they've produced.
Don't turn this stuff up unless you have the cash to replace a woofer or two.

The Crystal Method "Cherry Twist"

The Crystal Method "Weapons of Mass Distortion"

Crystal Method is amazing! I hear they are coming out with a new album next year, I wonder how it will stand up to "current" dance/trace/edm type stuff?

My post for today is another rapper that I just found out about named Rittz. He's got a unique look and raps in that mid-west double time style similar to Twista. He has a lot of good songs, some hype, some party, some slow, but this one is just some real stuff about a relationship. Boy does it hit home, I pretty much went through the exact same thing this guy raps about... when I was younger I used to rap and dated a girl for 8 years when she left. Obviously it turned out to be a good thing but damn, this song captures how I felt about 4 years ago!

Saw the movie Stuck On You again recently, and then by coincidence I heard the original song on Sirius this morning. Amazing is all I can say:

Billy Stewart - Summertime

I finally got to check another item off my bucket list last night. I got to see the *original and fantastic Fleetwood Mac live in concert. After this show, I have new found appreciation of Lindsey Buckingham as a guitarist and performer. He was simply 110% pure energy and the glue of an amazing experience. Here are a few crappy camera phone pics:

Plus a bonus video

* Not the first incarnation, but the Grammy, record breaking version.

I'm trying to expand my musical catalog so I listen almost exclusively to Sirius while I'm driving around. I've been hitting up Channel 36 a lot (Alt Nation) to catch some new music from time to time. I heard one today I thought was pretty good:

Bear Hands - Agora (FYI.... a few NSFW words - just a couple)

I love this song (admittedly just found it on Sirius 50's channel), but I'm hoping 2015 brings the world back to a more innocent and peaceful time (no ISIS, Sony Hack, etc...). Just a boring peaceful year would be just fine by me. Anyway...

Gene Vincent - Lotta Loviní

I've been really busy so I haven't kept up with the thread. I had tickets to see Bad Suns last night, but they cancelled due to a bandmate being hospitalized. It should be rescheduled, but I was disappointed to stay the least.

Anyway, here's a video of a song I'm learning to play right now:

Smashing Pumpkins - 1979

I too haven't posted here in a while, but I've been listening to this guy Rittz, I really hope I haven't posted this here before...

This song really hits home, I basically went through the same breakup this guy raps about a number of years ago. Except that I quit rapping and this guy did not lol... but it is so damn relateable.

Back in the day a 15 or 20 minute track on an album could either be it's best or it's worst feature. Think The Doors "The End" or Iron Butterfly's "In A Gadda-Da-Vita". Many failed abysmally, but this particular wah-wah/fuzz pedal lesson from Sly Stone remains one of my favorites. And it's the epitome of FUNK too.

I don't know if someone already posted this song. Discovered by my stepfather.

Bro... I have been LOVING this song. I'm actually really looking forward to his new album that comes out in a couple of weeks. It sounds like music for the working man.
