Recommended Comic Shops to visit in NJ and NY
Hi everyone.
I am from the Philippines and I will be flying to NJ this Saturday (May 7th) to attend 2 conferences in the NJ and NY areas next week and also meet some of my customers.
On top of this business trip, I plan to visit some comic shops in NY and NJ areas during my free time. Hope I can find some BD statues which I can hardly find here in P.I. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!

I rather enjoy Forbidden Planet as well, it's down by 14th street in Manhattan. I'm interested in this list myself since I usually only hit up those 3 places and I'd like to add more to the route!

midtown was the one I was going to suggest for nyc as well really nice shops.
for jersey depending on where your going to be id check out comic fortress in somerville its a real neat shop and the guys that work there are always great. they have a good selection of bowen and sideshow stuff as well and always have fair prices.
and to avoid, id try and stay away from jc comics in north plainfield. they usually have a good selection but horrible service and prices really try to stay away from them just terrible.

Yeah, I'm in California, but when I go to NY I always go to MidTown Comics. They actually have a decent collection of Bowen Statues. Good place to visit.

yes they both have a lot of statues but i believe the location in tmes square has more there second floor has a large display. ive never seen a comic shop so busy no matter when im in there or on what day they have a good number of customers in there, the greand central location is a little more quiet than the times square location but again they are both in walking distance of each other so if you go to one you should check out the other
if your with anyone with a disablilty go to the grand central as theres a elevator my poor fther always carries my wheelchair up the stairs at the time square location

hi guys.
many thanks for all your inputs. sorry for not responding on your comments. I just arrived in Manila last night from my almost 2-week business trips in NY and NJ areas.
i was able to find time to visit only one comic shoip - Midtown Comics in Times Square - and I got this bad boy!
BD Classic Venom FS Statue

This statue is heavy! But it was sure worth it while I hand-carried it on my way back to Manila.
thanks again guys for all your help! i am a happy man.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned The Lair yet. It's the best-kept secret in the Bronx. I've ordered several statues from Jorge via eBay and he's right up there with the big boys like DCBS and MM Comics for quality service and has some of the best prices for Bowens anywhere.

Don't forget you can always use the Comic Shop Locator page whenever you're visiting a new city. I've found some great places off the beaten path this way.
Just "google" the zip code of the location you're going to.

I've had a COMPLETELY different experience every time I've been to both of these shops. I'd give JC's two thumbs up and would highly recommend no one ever visit Comic Fortress. Just goes to show some places have more off days than others

So starting next week I'll be in Kingspoint, NY for two weeks at some military training school. I'd like to visit both Midtown comics locations at Times Square and Grand Central. Does anyone know if they have military discount? Are their statue prices discounted? I know the website regularly has good deals so I was hoping for the same at the store.
Any info/suggestions/help would be great...thanks in advance!

I doubt they have any military discount, but they have sales in the store pretty regularly. The sales on the site are different than the in-store sales. They also buy people's collections, so they'll often have some older Bowen statues available, so make sure you check out the 2nd floor where all the collectibles are.
