I don't mind dusting. I like the open feel to these shelves, it gives you many different angles to look at the statue. No "closed in" feel to it that solid shelves have and it limits the view-ability of the statues.

I haven't had a single problem with any of my 8 Detolfs in the 7-8 years I've owned them.
My floors are a little "bouncy" and every so often I'll hear a frame flexing and a glass shelf contacting the glass sides when I walk through the room.
It's usually a simple matter of finding and centering a shelf that crept too close to the side of the unit after I added or removed a statue.

John Byrne displays his statues & busts just like you do.

This is all good info! I'm (fingers crossed) starting my collection room in a couple of months and was starting to look into various shelving.

I use the IKEA Billy but not because it's my favorite. It's cheap, easily replaceable, the shelves are adjustable and the look is somewhat elegant.

That being said, they are a little shallow for my liking (in regard to depth of the shelf)

Detolf. For 60 bucks (now 65) you have a cool glass display which can be viewed from all sides. Though the shelves are not adjustable, it's big enough to display two museum full sized statues side by side with a comic book, or in my case a team (5-7) busts with a comic book.

They have since discontinued with the wood colored ones which kinda sux since I now have 6 and do not like my shelves to mismatch in color.

I use the Ikea Billy's with Morebo doors. They are adjustable and perfect, IMO, for my collecting which consists of Bowen statues and Star Wars replicas

Morebo doors are discontinued. There's a new version called "Morliden" that looks the same, but I'm not positive.

Step 1. See
Step 2. Covet
Step 3. Purchase
Step 4. Sell something so you can repeat steps 1-3

Oh really? Are they compatible with the Billy cabinets? That sucks if not I loved the Billy and Morebo combination.

Yeah, they used to a sell a packaged "Billy & 2 Morebo doors," and now they sell a "Billy and 2 Morliden doors." They look completely the same from the pics, but I haven't been able to see one close up.

Since I started collecting 1/4 scale statues, I've started using the IKEA Kallax 4x2 shelving units. I like that you can display 1/4's on top and smaller things like busts or smaller 1/6 scale statues below. Or in my case, I bought a few of their cloth drawers that I use to store my guitar supplies, etc... Then I use the other shelves for books or whatever. This is what I plan on using for my XM statues when then come in, but for right now, Apocalypse is the only resident. Eventually, the XM Magneto will replace the Da Vinci book and the XM Thanos will replace the vase.

I still have my Detolf's for my Bowen collection, but I plan on using these Kallax units as storage/display space for my 1/4s.

I know I'm in the minority with so many liking Ikea but I still like mine behind glass so curio cabinets has been my method (until my custom shelves are complete.)

I bought a fairly wide case because I like having multiple statues together (teams) without some type of divider between them. Also, I like the solid piece of glass in front without any dividers to interrupt the view.

This is an old picture, but you get the idea:

Very nice!

Here's mine. Sort of an amalgam of Ikea and custom stuff

And here's how I built it:

Anyone use the Stuva from Ikea? I'm going to be replacing my beloved Billy's with the Stuva's since I'm in the 1/4 game now. (All pre orders lol)
