Glad to see the Smash-Stash getting off the ground, Ken! Looking forward to more updates.

Now you're making me want to find a way to get my desk back in my geek room. I spent more time in that room when I still had my computer in it.

RIP, Kirk (aka Ace). You will be missed, brother.

Thanks Kenn...! I spend a ton of time in this room so I'm pretty happy that it's finally coming together. I've been staring at the comic book frame wall for months now - it's exciting to get the other in on the act...

BTW - you should lobby for the bigger room...!!!

I just finished another unsucessful campaign for the game room. It would literally give me 4 times the wall space with plenty of room for a decked out home theater. Maybe next year...

P.S. love the floating frame jobs

Great! That stuff really brings back memories.
I think I have a WAM (Wild Agents of Marvel) kit around here somewhere too.

I'll tell you what - this was YEARS in the making. Seriously - you guys can't even imagine all of the items that I've taken in, sold off, traded, etc to get to this point. Just being able to finally get these out is already lifting my spirits.

Not only that, after so many years at admiring everyone else's collections, it inspired me and gave me the hope I needed to do this....

Marvel Icons 12 inch Captain America Prototype

I've shared this before, but it's been years since it's been up on a wall. I used to be into protoypes for years - a terrible market, but kept this one and some others. I wish I had never sold a Hulk proto I had a few years back...ah, the regrets...

Damned if I can remember. It would take quite an effort to unearth the kit from one of the dozens of long boxes I have my comics stored in.
If I ever happen to stumble upon it again I will let you know!

1976 Marvel-Con Bag with Marie Severin Artwork

There is artwork on both sides - the other side has all of the same characters playing instruments or holding instruments. I opted for this side since the Hulk is holding all of them up.

1967 Marvel Comics No-Prize Envelope

This is one of the original 1967 No-Prize awards from Marvel Comics. It has the 625 Madison address...gotta love the Hulk on there...!

1967 Topps Marvel Flyer Captain America

There were 12 different characters in this set. I have both the Captain America and Hulk - but the Hulk isn't in good as shape as Cap. Have to admit - Cap displays really well versus the Hulk. May need to upgrade the Hulk at some time and get him on the wall....

Really incredible SD! You have such unique and rare items.

I didn't start collecting until it was too late, but I always wanted a no prize...

It's never too late...!

I was a HUGE Superman and Golden Age DC comics fan since the 80's. At one time, my collection was 85% DC related and 15% Marvel. I made the switch a few years ago, especially when Bowen became a very influential part of my collecting ecosystem.

As you can see, it's now 98% Vintage Marvel. And this took a many years of waiting for the right price, doing a big horse trade or buying outright. Many of these peices I got for being at the right place, at the right time at a VERY affordable price.

I haven't even gotten my Bowen's their spotlight yet - which I'm looking forward to FINALLY doing on the other side of the room.

That all being said - you should GO FOR IT...!!

I guess for me, I always wanted to actually earn it and have them send it to me, and by them I mean Stan Lee himself!

What made you hunt down some of the items you have? Did you have them as a kid, lose them, and decided to search for them? I assume some of them you've kept over the years?

Many of these items I saw when I was a kid...I didn't own any of them.

As to what made me hunt these down - well, there's been many influences like everyone's collections here on SM, Ratchet, an SM member, who owns a DEEP collection of Hulk memorabilia, Bowen's Designs, Insomniac's and TigerTank's collections, Al's passionate threads around the vintage classics to name a few...

But, if there was there is one catalyst for it all - it would be this...

1975 Marvel Comics Giant-Size Defenders # 5

This was the 1ST comic that resonated with me as a kid of the 70's. My Dad brought me home a stack of comics books when I was sick. Among the DC, Marvel and Harvey comics in that stack - this one stuck out.

Since then, even with my collecting leaning towards DC for quite some time, I came back to it all...became really intrigued with the history and the mythology of it all.

Can't wait to show you guys so much more...
