Safe-Way grocery store in Kansas City is where I would get my first comics. (On the spinner rack of course) My first comic book store experience was at Clint's Comic Books, also in KC. Those were the days. I remember I had a much better vocabulary than most of my class mates in elementary school, and high school for that matter, because of comic books. Loved using words like flippant and obtuse in school.

Funny story about this, and I do remember.

I grew up in a small town where we actually didn't have a comic store. So around the time I was 10, my parents divorced. For a couple years on the weekend whenever my mother would pick up my brother and I, she would take us to her dad's (my grand father) and on the way we would always stop at a comic shop. When i was young I felt like the shop was so far away but I always loved going there. Fast forward to a couple years ago when I moved into my current apartment, I realized the comic shop that is closest to me (literally right around the corner) is the same one I used to go to as a kid! Planet X in richmond hill. Pretty funny how that turned out.

Growing up in Montreal, I used to go to Captain Quebec all the time and browse their comics.

I first got into comics going to Showcase Video in Kaneohe, which was a video rental/comic and card shop. My uncle would take me every Friday and we'd rent a new horror movie or two, I started to wander in the comic section, and that was it.
I also frequented Pogo's Stick in Kailua, and my main comics shop until it closed in 2006 was Gecko Books in Kailua, awesome place to hang out, REALLY miss that place!

For me it was the PX Bookstore while my dad was stationed in Germany. Then, when I returned to the states it was the Comic Box in Savannah, Georgia. Excellent store, but it is now closed.
