Went on Holiday last week (Disneyland Paris, because I'm a totally mature 20 year old...) Bought the Infinity OGN to read in the evenings, really enjoyed it! Got through it twice while we were there. Solid read, and some great art.

Barnes and Noble had or is having a buy 2 get 1 free sale on all DC TPBs. I picked up some of the new Rebirth titles. Will let you guys know if they are worth a read.

Even though I did not read these in Omnibus or trade form, when my LCBS was having their annual sale, their $1 bins were 2 for a $1. Well I was able to get all but 2 issues of Mark Waid's Daredevil run (#1-36). For those that have not read them - GET THEM and enjoy some of Mark Waid's best work since his first run on The Flash. I know that an Omnibus has been printed of them but also they are available in trade form as well.

also, on Ebay I picked up the Brave and the Bold Omnibus which reprints the beginning of Batman's team ups with the DC Universe (#74 to 109). I got it in practically new condition dirt cheap (this seems to be the book I notice you can get new at least half off the cover price). I have only read a few stories but they are just fun. Nice simple team ups that are one and done in 1 issue. Plus we see all of the Neal Adams run on Brave and Bold in this collection and the start of the legendary definitive Batman artist Jim Aparo start his run on the character as well.

Hoping for a Phase 6 with FS Statues of the following

Nighthawk
Mockingbird
Moondragon
Mantis
The Red Guardian (The Defenders member-this one is a longshot)
and a REALLY GOOD Phoenix Museum Pose statue

I have that Brave and the Bold omnibus. Love those older team up stories. The Bronze Age of comics was so solid.

I read those Waid DD issues in singles. The tone is very different from pretty much all of the modern stuff. What I liked the most, other than the art, was that there were surprises. The stories went in directions I didn't expect, which for me is rare nowadays.

Just finished reading Gotham Central Omnibus. If you like shows such as Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue, this is pretty much the same thing except in Gotham. Really fantastic.

Just finished Tokyo Ghost by Remender/Murphy.

Has anyone ever read the silver age justice league? I was never a DC guy, so have never read any silver age stuff except for some Batman issues. I'm interested in Silver Age JLA and Flash. Worthwhile?

Good question, I wonder if Wrlord could post a Silver Age JLA for us?

It's obviously an open question fraught with opinions. I guess I'm at least looking for whether it's worth reading or just terrible.

I personally think early Marvel is worth reading, but I get those who can't handle the writing style.

Joe, silver age JLA and the Flash were two of the main comics that got me into reading comics in the first place. I loved them. Now here is the problem... I read them forty years ago. So there you have it...

One More Statue and I am Done

1) Moon Knight - White

Sorry for the late reply, I went on vacation for a week.

It's a little shallow, just a peek into this world. The sex and nudity may be a bit much for some.

Here's my review from Goodreads:

Quote:
Impressive. What this lacks in depth it makes up for in style. It carries many themes and messages: a romance, environmental and social commentary, and the way to personal happiness. The story packs quite a punch, delivering its messages sometimes a little too bluntly, but with a panache brought on by Murphy's incredibly unique visual storytelling. There's a lot to look at in each panel, accentuated by Hollingsworth's colors, who chose to still give some color despite the story taking place in a future dystopian world.

Having said all that the characters are a little shallow, with the main characters sharing an emotional bond and is the driving force which carries through to the end. It's relatively short, but the high-octane quick fix is enough to want more.

Hope you had a good time!

Yeah, that's a pretty solid review to be fair. Definitely worth a read.
