I think anyone who breaks up the statue & bust set to sell that bust individually has got to be completely insane.

Yeah, I'm not sure why anyone would do that. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they bought the bust by itself too.

Would really love to have those Bronze statues though. At least Spider-Man. Oh well. I've never even seen them in person, much less be able to afford them if I did.

Count me as one of those who don't get it... can one of you more experienced collectors tell me what this is all about?

The bust is a companion piece of the first 60/100 Real Bronze Captain America statues:

I agree but from what I understand, this was separated from its large statue by someone who was not aware of its significance. A "Mom threw out my Mickey Mantle card years ago" scenario.

This mini bust was a bonus item to one of the first 60/100 purchasers of the larger Captain America bronze statues made at the same time and are extremely rare as there were only 60 made and given. This is 47/60. It would be great to find the #47/100 Captain owner, right?! Anyway, still a great rare and signed piece that someone could own for not a huge investment!

I'm sure their are more than a few of these, the Bruce Banner busts and the Peter Parker busts that were separated from their statues over the years, but I can't help thinking it's such sacrilege whenever I see them for sale.

It certainly is a shame- would love to track down the 47/100 Cap owner, or see someone own it who truly appreciates it.

I remember seeing a Spider-Man Real Bronze for sale at the first day of SDCC in 2010.
I went to find the person I came with so he could check it out too, but when we came back not 2 minutes later it was already SOLD!

Smash sold his set back in Nov. How was I not made aware of that auction? I probably would have gone for it and saved him $1200

Sash- your collection is INSANE!!!! Amazing. I think you need this 47/60 Rogers bust and should be the one to find the owner of CA 47/100 and snag it from them! Seriously- crazy collection!
