Default How to Post Pictures

-- First, go sign up for a photo hosting site, such as Photobucket Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket , which is free or pay (depending on the amount of storage you need).

-- The photo hosting site that I use is called SmugMug Photo Sharing. Your Photos Look Better Here. . They have a free trial, which leads to a paid subscription. Please use my $5 off coupon in you decide to use SmugMug. This is the code you need to enter...

9rfoxkKcZz3fY

I can't rave enough about SmugMug! All of the galleries on this site that were posted as of 01/09/09 were created using my SmugMug. More on that in a minute!

-- OK, signed up for a photo hosting site? Cool! Now you can "hotlink" images from that site to this site. How? Well, let's use Photobucket as an example. After you upload your pics to the site from your computer, you will see several choices under each picture.

Look for IMG Code

Click on the IMG Code of the picture you want to post on this board. Clicking that code will COPY it to your computer's invisible Clip Board. When you come back to this site, right click in the body of your message & choose PASTE. This will PASTE your image into your message.

Cool, huh?

****The only uncool thing is that if you ever delete the image from your photohosting site or move it, your pic on this site will come up as a red X. That sucks & we ask that you think about that before deleting or moving your pics on your photo hosting site. ******

OK! Back to why I LOVE SmugMug!

1. Check out the look of my SmugMug holdyourfireal's Photos | SmugMug

- I love how I can personalize the galleries & create categories.
- I love that I can password protect galleries.

2. STORAGE!!! I used to use Photobucket, but once I got into
photography & I realized that I was taking a heck of a lot of pics, a
free site, such as Photobucket no longer met my needs.

- Photobucket gives you 1 Gig of space free.
- For the paid option on Photobucket, you get 10 Gigs.

- With the SmugMug paid subscription, you get UNLIMITED storage!

3. Piece of Mind. I upload ALL my pics to my SmugMug account! If my
hard drive fails or we have a fire, all my family pictures are
securely on line for me to retrieve!

4. Size Options! Check this out....

It's become apparent to me that most of you are not checking out the Help Section at the top of Statue Marvels, so I decided to post this thread here.

1. Go to Flickr, select your picture.
2. Select the size you want, then grab the BB code
3. Paste and edit the link as below (I added a space before the last closing bracket so as to show an example)

Default Helpful tip for Photobucket users

For those of you using Photobucket, when you click on the IMG link, which copies to your clipboard, you simply paste that into your post. You do NOT need to use the IMG tag button on the toolbar. This is the button that looks like a square, yellow picture with a mountain range and sun. Using this button will add the [IMG][/IMG] tags around you photo and it will look like this after you post:

[IMG][/IMG]

If you ever see these tags around your picture after posting, you can edit your post and delete them. Photobucket has already added these to the link you copied.

I'm guessing SmugMug already adds them for you too, but I'm not sure.
