I started early to mid 90's with the X-Men....and now I think I have just about every X-Men comic published since 1963 with the exception of X-Men #1 and #2 from the original 1963 run which are a little out of my price range....but I am saving up!!
Got into comics when I was a little tot barely starting to learn to read. Marveel comics where the new kid s on the block and I joined in. Thor, Spider-man, Avengers, and X-Men being my favorites. I'm still the proud owner of complete runs of each!
Where are the guys that grew up reading The Micronauts, ROM Spaceknight, Shogun Warriors, and Herb Trimpe's Godzilla??? Are any of you left out there?
They don't allow "funny books" at most convalescent homes, Al... is my guess; they get the heart racin' with their stories of large battles and buxom damsels in distress, and racing hearts lead to crash-cart visits.
That being said, how'd you escape Shady Acres? I hear the orderlies there use tasers to keep their "guests" in line.

Ahhhh...you guys are missing out if you've never read Micronauts 1-12. One of the best stories & art Marvel has ever published.
I remember ROM spaceknight!! Came out in UK same time as Ms Marvel(retro lol)I started reading Marvel in 1973 the US comics were hard to come by back in the good old days,my favorites were(and still are)Spider-man FF Hulk Thor X-men Avengers.
1960, I wished my Mom hadn't thrown them out. Ouch, it hurts to see what they are worth now! I seem to remember Ironman's tin can suit with little propellers, no jet boots.. what I remember most is Captain America and Red Skull's SLEEPER'S

I started off in 2004, Iron Man is my favorite, and my first arc was called "The Best Defense." It was in Iron Man's third volume, issues 73-78. Basically, Tony Stark becomes the Secretary of Defense in that arc. Now my Iron Man comic collection goes as far back as some Tales of Suspense issues.

That arc featured the last good armor in my opinion, before they switched over to the anime look.

Yea I have a soft spot for that armor. And if you mean switching over to the Extremis armor, I can't say that it's an anime look, it's just a streamlined version. Those are my favorites.

Oh...it's anime! Look at the Best Defense armor. That was all-out built tough American looking. Extremis looks soft & anime in nature.

I started buying in the late 80's, '87 to be exact. Before then I used to read all my brothers comics from the late 70's to early 80's. I gotta say, the stories that came out of that era was the best in my book.
