Interview with Sculptor Mark Newman
We had the privilege of interviewing Bowen and Sideshow Sculptor Mark Newman on Episode 30 of the Action Figure Blues Podcast:
Action Figure Blues: The AFB Podcast Episode 30: Interview with Sculptor Mark Newman!
It really is a great listen - Mark was very generous with his time and thoughts and was great to speak to. He speaks about his relationship with Randy Bowen and discusses quite a number of Bowen pieces.
Please check it out and enjoy!

Loved the interview, i've always been impressed with the Ebony Visions line, I was happy that this portion of Mark's career was touched on. It was incredibly useful to be on Mark's Deviant site gallery while listening to the interview as I was able to bring up the pieces referenced and look at them while they were being discussed. The "Morty" fountain piece is hilarious, if anyone finds a link to the seller referenced in Lodi, CA for the concrete versions i'd love to get it. Nicely done............

Great interview! You guys talked about us fans trashing some of these statue sneaks and I can think of one that I regret trashing of Mark Newman's which was the Scarlet Witch Premium Format. He prob never read my comments, but regardless, I just want to apologize for my harsh thoughtless remarks. Sometimes we shoot off the mouth easily from behind the keyboard w/out thinking and it's interviews like this that puts things into perspective.
Seeing the BD poll on many of Mark's BD sculpts you realize he does have some pretty good gems!
Thanks for sharing the interview with us! Oh and sorry, but I have to say this...my son said you guys sound like the Wiggles. Sorry! They're not used to hearing Australian's....

Thanks Randy et al for your comments. It was a real pleasure, and we plan to do more - some lining up now!
Naturally once we're skilled enough at this interviewing thing we'll be hoping that Randy himself will chat to us.

Hahaha! That's quite okay - although I wouldn't want to have to put our singing and dancing skills up against theirs!

Totally agree about Ebony Visions. This was something I wasn't familiar with until doing research for the interview, and they are just stunning - in fact, the "Bride and Groom" piece may have to become mine someday - it is just such a beautiful sculpture.

Hey Andy, It was my pleasure to do the interview.
I had a good time talking with you guys, despite the
fact I had drag my ass out of bed early on a Saturday.

Hey Mark I just noticed that your post count seems to be stuck on 22. I'll email SM's resident technomage Gene and see if he can correct that.
Thanks for being so generous with your time. That was a fairly long interview, but you easily held my interest and I was sorry to see it end. I hope you can continue the dialog on The Ace & Rome Show.
I've been a fan and have been collecting your Bowen work (as well as Rama and a few other non-BD statues) for years, but in all that time I've never seen you post on SM much. So it's awesome to finally hear from you.
I think if you got a good website designer to update your site and hired someone to do PR you'd be a lot more well-known than you are now, but you're probably like Randy and value your quality of life rather than how much money you could potentially make, right?
Great to see you here on SM. Randy said you weren't currently working on a Bowen project when I asked him a couple of weeks ago, but I sure hope you start something new for BD soon. I'm dying to see how you're going to top that gorgeous Spider-Woman of yours. It's already one of my all-time favorites.

Hey thanks rome! I have been trying to work out how to listen to your show - is it not on iTunes? I might have a podcast but I am a total noob when it comes to working out how to listen to shows that aren't on iTunes.
