I'm not sure if I'm buying or not, but if I did I would choose the black and white face. I don't remember seeing any old newsreel footage where the faces were flesh toned.

I know nothing about this character so really have no interest in the statue. From the posts I am guessing there was a movie or something from the 1940s with this character. I think I remember seeing some pics Al posted of a skinny guy dressed in a B&W Captain America costume. If that is the case then is this really a good representation of the character? It would seem to be a very modern take on a very old character. I thought the whole point of the classic thing was to have true representations of the original character. If not then it seems like this is similar to DC's B&W line of modern characters.

I thought the same thing but then I found this thread and Randy's explanation for it...

oops... give me a sec.
Thanks Jack, that explains a lot. I was thinking characters from the 40's can't possibly look like this. I think a B&W line from Bowen may be cool. The DC stuff doess very well.

No problem. Yeah, I didnt understand it either at first.
I love how on a board where we see sculpts of giant horned creatures, chicks wearing thongs to fight evil, and super spies in high heels on a daily basis that suddenly people need explanation as to why Cap would wear a black and white suit and still have a flesh toned face. And if said explanation isn't sufficient, they're not interested.
Just a clarification for those of you that might run out to get Captain America #290: The B&W look on the cover is just an effect. There is no B&W costume featured in the book anywhere. Cover just looks cool.
