Default If the BIG FOUR of thrash metal was the BIG FIVE, who would be the 5th?

I don't know how many 80's thrash metal fans there are on here, but I figured it's worth a shot.

For those who don't know, the Big Four are Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth.

I included most of the bands in the poll that would be obvious runners-up, but I couldn't include all of them. The poll would be a mile long!

This actually came to mind because the questions was brought up on That Metal Show on the VH1 Classic channel.

during that era, which I was a fan, I would say Metal Church

Wow Coug... that is a curveball!

I honestly wasn't going to throw in Metal Church because I didn't think anyone would pick them. Good call!

Funny story, Metal Church almost got booed off the stage when they opened for Metallica at the Felt Forum in December of 1986!
It's a tough call for me between Testament and Overkill, but I'm going to say Testament.

The 3 choices That Metal Show picked from were Testament, Exodus and Overkill. I couldn't really understand the Overkill argument. I like them, but I don't think they are anywhere near as good as Testament and Exodus.

Well, I was friendly with D.D. Verni.....so I guess there's a little bias there towards Overkill.

Well that's understandable then.

I do like Overkill, just not as much as Testament.

Honestly... I think Testament deserves that Big Four spot more than Anthrax. Another band I enjoy, but I think they are a bit overrated. Persistence is an excellent album, but everything Testament did from Legacy to Souls beats that out in my book.

Amthrax was the **** with Spreading the Disease and Among the Living. That was where their legacy was made. Testament is great and Skolnick is awesome!

Among the Living is an excellent album. My one buddy says that albums alone blows Testament out of the water. Agree to disagree.

Spreading the Disease is my favorite of theirs. Just some raw power tunes on that one! A.I.R., Medusa, not to mention Madhouse.

I'm not a big thrash metal guy, but I did see suicidal tendencies in 1987(88?) while I was attending the University of Miami (FL). Pretty insane show!

It's more punk, but has anyone heard of impotent seasnakes, my childhood buddy was into them, more for shock value I think.

I enjoyed Suicidal Tendencies. My band actually opened up for them at L'Amours in the good old days! Mike Muir (lead singer....always wore a bandana) was one interesting dude! I never heard of "Impotent Seasnakes".......sounds like an erectile dysfunction of some kind.

It's a tough one between Exodus and Testament but I'm voting for Exodus. They're last 4 or 5 albums have kicked some serious A$$.

And Toxic Waltz is the ultimate metal anthem.

Toxic Waltz rang out loud in my car on many a night in '89!

I'm not a thrash metal person either. I was just a youngster during the popularity of Metal.

Thats why I said Metal Church. Much prefered them over the others in the list.
