Sounds absolutely horrible. Of course they kept that one modern convention that I hate...the utility belt!

I'm interested to see what it looks like. I believe that Captain America is one of the characters who would not translate at all with their original comic-book costume on the big screen. If you're at war, you don't want an outfit that bombers could easily see from 1,000 feet in the air. Cap would make for an easy target.

I want the costume that Joe Simon designed. Period. If the director can't handle a super hero movie, do something else.

How awful. May as well just give him Peter Fonda's motorcycle helmet from "Easy Rider" like they did before. So dissappointing.
I'm with Al. If they can't do it right, don't bother doing it at all.

The comics are one thing and the movies are something else entirely. As long as the costume has the essence and is true to the original, I'm fine with it. The only costume that has come close to being exactly like the comic was Superman, and they even changed that one a bit in the latest film. Batman has been updated and the costume kicks ass, because it's more realistic. Spider-Man's is true to the comic but is not an exact replica. The X-Men look nothing like the comics, they even make fun of the fact in the movie, "What were you expecting? Yellow spandex?" If you want exact replicas, you should stick to the animated movies. I'm surprised you didn't hate Iron Man because they didn't use Layton's classic design Al. Any of these movies that I've been disappointed in, the costumes have been the least of my worries. I get it, I really do, but come on! Let's at least see actual pictures, and see it within the context of the film before passing final judgement.

All I'm saying is that there's a very real, very logical reason why Wolverine will NEVER appear in the movies in yellow spandex. The outfits must make some sort of sense in the real world. There's a very real reason soldiers in combat don't wear bright red, white and blue.

The costume, no matter what it looks like, will be a stretch for a soldier. That's ok, it's part of a story, let's just make it fit as best as possible while staying true to the character.

They were more faithful in the silly 1970s TV movies!

Cap's costume was a propoganda tool above all else. If you view it that way, it's not silly at all. I'm tired of these Hollywood types being ashamed of the source material.

not surprising to me as I did not expect a pure translation of the comic costume in the movie. I hope the pics are not too long coming so we can really see what the costume looks like.

I seem to recall one Cap writer explaining the red, white & blue costume as having 2 functions. One, anyone who wears a brightly-colored costume like that on a battlefield is not afraid of bullets and that has a psycological effect on the enemy and two, the costume draws fire from enemies who would otherwise be mowing down the rank & file infantrymen around him.
