I know its capitalism, and everyone can do whatever they want with the statue they bought, but personally I think its in bad taste to hang out in a message board, make friends with people and then when something like this comes up for sale, buy it when you have absolutely no interest in keeping it just to make a few dollars, knowing full well that someone you call a "friend" on this message board who really wanted it went without so that you can make a few bucks and if they want it now, they are going to have to pay you more just because you clicked on buy faster than they did. Doesn't seem like a very neighborly thing to do. When I got the call from Bowen Designs to buy that mini-bust they were doing for their big customers, I turned it down because I'm not interested in busts. Left it for the next guy. I knew it was going to be rare but it didn't seem right to me to profit from it because I knew I didn't want it. Just my opinion. I don't know what the message board consensus is on this topic but I just got to say what I feel about it. I got #33. I would be ashamed to sell it on ebay. You won't be seeing #33 on ebay. I can understand if years or even a few months down the road you find yourself in a difficult economic situation and need to sell it then. But if you are selling it right now, you clearly bought it to make money off of it and you clearly know you denied someone else who you may be friends with here the opportunity to buy it for retail. Maybe my thoughts are too Mayberry/Andy Griffith for nowadays but that's my opinion.
it is the buyer's right to do what he pleases with what he has purchased. after all, he PAID for that privilege. maybe if you bought the statue and didn't sell it, that would have upset the current seller maggio. what makes your way the only way people should look at it? who died and left you god of price setting and statue acquisition?
btw, i am a collector, a buyer and a seller. i flip because it helps me buy more to further enjoy the hobby. if anyone doesn't like it, they have the power to be at the right place at the right time to thwart my efforts by purchasing a limited edition anything. you have the same chance as i do so stop crying about it and get one. but you should know adults get disappointed all the time....better get used to it. i sometimes don't get to purchase something i want but let's face it, only spoiled children think they can have it all.

The guys entitled to do what ever he wants with his statue, just as any one is entitled to feel its in bad taste. Either way hes still going to sell it.

now we go full circle back to the defensive? yea, the guy has a right to feel it's in bad taste but he doesn't have a right to impose that feeling on others. everyone knew from the announcements when it was going on sale so everyone had an equal shot at it. if i cried every time i didn't get my way, i'd have a box of kleenex shoved in my arse for convenience! welcome to life....where 95% of the time things DON'T go your way.

All he did was voice his opinion on the matter, he isn't forcing any one to change what they do with their own property. We all play the game, pay over inflated prices for the pieces we want, its all part of collecting. But he still has the right to his views and all he did was voice them in this thread.

Oddball...you are just attacking to attack your feelings on flipping are well known to all and you have the right to that...but we also have the right to have the opposite opinion.
No one knows, 100%, who are members, flippers, a facebook purchaser or someone who stumbled on the original thread. Jlprjlpr's opinion is based on an assumption snd he is entitled to vent, just like oddball is entitled to disagree.

Wow, I don't read everything here on Statue Marvels so had no idea there would be such a vivid reaction to my statement... Some people must have a hard time sleeping at night so they have to overcompensate with outright nastiness and obsenity.
You have a right to sell it but it ain't right to sell it.
The difference between the first right and the second right in the above sentence has to to do with your upbringing. And your upbringing makes it obvious you don't know the difference.
You have a right to sell it but it ain't right to sell it.
I liked this. Good way of wording it and I agree with you. I have no interest in fliiping my statues when I buy them but if in six months to a year I want to sell them or need to I see no issue with it.
I dont like buying for the sake of flipping when its an online limited sale. I get why people do it for Convention exclusives , that doesnt bother me as I never would have an oppertunity to buy it otherwise. But in this circumstance it was kinda of a c***block.

I agree 100%. What is really ugly about doing it in this particular case is that it was available to members of this group only. In other words, you knew you were specifically taking away the opportuniy to buy it from someone you have a social interaction with in this group, someone who you may be friends with. Like you said, its not like getting an exclusive of 2,000 at San Diego Comic Con to resell to a nameless person on ebay. You went to comic con, stood in the lines, lugged it around and now you are selling it to a complete stranger. But in this particular case, you snatched it away by clicking on buy faster than your Statue Marvels "neighbor", keeping someone you know and call a "friend" in this group from getting it: "don't sh!# where you eat".

Wait what?
This sale was a Statue Marvels Shop Exclusive, but it wasn't exclusive to only SM posters.
