I have a couple of questions. Seriously. You said there is only "one true church, one God". What is "the one true church"? That's one of the things I find most confusing. Like I have some friends that have invited me to their church. If I was to take them up on their offer I'd like to at least know I'm not wasting my time and I'm in the correct place. And can you elaborate just a bit on "one God"? I know you're talking about a singular God as opposed to multiple Gods, that's a given. I guess I'm asking which God is the one God? Is it the God of Christianity? Or is it the God of the Jewish faith? Or could it be the God of the Muslims? Just in my layman's knowledge each of those Gods seems distinctly different.
I feel, due to my own comments, people believe I am an atheist which I am not. While I do tend to lean towards the improbability of God, my mind is not made up on the existence of a Supreme Being. Which takes me back to all the churches. I do not know which one is the right one that will lead me to a greater understanding.
As for the praying I must assume you do. Aside from the peace of mind/meditative qualities of prayer, has God ever answered your prayers? How does God answer them? Do you hear a genuine "voice" in your mind...not crazy talk but a voice speaking to you? Or is it just a "knowing" in your mind....knowing what the right thing to do is? Havee their been any instances where you feel God answered your personal prayers for something, as in God intervening in your life and changing something otherwise unchangeable? And would God have the ability to maintain this type of intimate relationship through prayer with every one of us? Can you give example of something that God did for you that could not be explained in any other way? Can you agree that science is the understanding of the laws of God? And finally, do you suppose that God would have the same relationship He has with us with other lifeforms in the universe should they exist?
I'm not baiting you or asking trick questions or anything. You come across very solid in your beliefs and you could be a big benefit to me and I'm sure many many more if you could share some of the facts which lead you to believe. Thanks.

i see what he's saying. god is the good in all of US, and in that way, god did give him two strong hands to work, hired him at his job through the goodness of his boss, helped him start a family from the love he found in his wife. god to me is not a physical being, but a feeling and emotion within all of us, and he is reflected through the good we display towards eachother. i guess that makes me godless?

This is my issue - no religious person EVER answers directly - just more and more prattling about a ubiquitous being. He didn't answer any of my questions either.
Science is full of theories - but religion is, what? Fact? Religion is, to me, what people used as answers to questions that were too hard to answer - until we became more sophisticated and smarter. Well, some of us.

Not very Christian-like of you. But then, it's already been established you're not very Xavier-Like either. The bottom line is, trying to engage in a constructive dialogue with you is an exercise in futility. No one has asked for bible verses. On the contrary, we've asked time and again just for some real answers from your own experience and you've evaded them every time.
And for the record, I'm not a 5 year old and please, everyone, forgive me for pointing out the elephant in the room, your grammatical skills are certainly on that level. I would brush up on those if I were your because it will surely enrich your life far more than a prayer.

God creating the universe in the biblical sense is completely false based on just a few facts of modern science: the speed of light in the vacuum of space for example. God as a creator outside the biblical sense even though it can not be proven either way, to me IMO seems to be just a way to end ones curoisity. "God made the universe. the end" the lazy man's ways of getting the final answer. alot of people i think are uncomfortable with the whole idea of thier own ignorance. I think that humankind is afraid to be small. People need to have a sense of importance and significance in their world. Most of the population lives mundane to very harsh lives and the need to know that there must be something more out there than all of this is overwhelming. The simple fact that's so hard to accept is that on the grand scale of the entire 14 billion year old universe is that we are, as individuals and a society, mostly if not completely insignificant. Why should the human race of the planet Earth be the most favored creature in the eyes of God? It goes without saying that humans are a work in progress. What if humans only exist so that they can build the perfect machine? Or what if man has used up his chances to get it right and it's all going to be turned over to the apes one day soon? So man invents God and invents an afterlife in heaven where they are guaranteed to be forgiven for all their evils and live in the kingdom of the lord forever. For many, that's easier to believe than we are here for a brief time and then we are gone.

The only answer they will know is the answer that they have been taught. My 5 year old will not be taught that a magic man in the sky created this planet - because I don't believe that to be the answer. And believe it or not - this is not an inborn knowledge - God is only known to those who have been taught about him. Children are not born knowing about God.

Theft , Murder, Adultery, etc ...all really hillarious when you think about it.
Im religious and have no issue with gay people getting married. Hell I think gay people who adpot would make better parents than half the pieces of trash that have kids naturally.
And to say that you shouldnt pick and choose from the bible to what ever suits you is ignorant for two reasons.
One) the bible is a collection of different books. These books were written by different men, translated by different men, who decided that would look good together in a larger book. There are many translations and many interpretations. Just because some biggotted moron is reading from one version of the bible dosent mean that its the be all end all.
Two) String Theory or Loop quantum Gravity. Two equally interesting and accepted scientific theories of the universe. Only problem is they have huge differences in between the two. Both cant be right but right now they are both accepted theories. So you get to choose how you view your universe... is it Loopy or Stringy? Why do I have follow the bible like a step by step instruction manual from ikea?
