Exclamation Is there a way that you can display a heavy statue in a detolf case?

Hello,

I have a couple of Hulk statues from Bowen Designs as well as the Juggernaut action statue that weigh more than the museum and smaller statues produced by Bowen Designs wich are about 10 to 12 lbs. each and my concern is that within time the glass shelves from the Detolf display case will cave in and break sending the statues crashing down and breaking. Does anyone have any advice on what to do to be able to display in my Detolf case. Please help me as I no longer want to leave them out to get dust and dirt from displaying them in a regular shelf. Thank you all in advanced.

1. Bottom shelf
2. double up the glass shelves on one level
3. Buy a thicker glass shelf form a glass place

Dear All,

Has anyone tried putting a heavy Bowen (e.g. Hulk) on the top shelf of Detolf?

The shelves can hold more weight than you think. From what I have been told, the weight limit really deals more with the strain on the weld on the sides on the case and not the glass. I have smackdown hulk on second from bottom shelf and on my top glas shelves I have two or three small bowens. One top glass Shelf has modern warlock, red devil ( customized to surfer), and modern captain marvel, all three on the same shelf. No problems here...

I'd never put a heavy statue like a Hulk on anything but the bottom shelf or the wooden top of the unit. Never on a glass shelf unless the statue is below the weight limit of 13-14 pounds per shelf.
You can put up to 4 FS statues on a shelf as long as they total less than the weight limit and many people do just that. You're better off putting 3 or 4 statues that weigh in below the limit than one heavy statue because the weight of 3 or 4 statues is distributed over the entire surface of the glass and not just one point. With 3 or 4 statues most of the weight is sitting near the corners instead of in the middle of the shelf.
I'm sure Ikea over-engineers these things a bit, but pushing the weight limit, especially with one heavy statue, is one of those things where if you're wrong you're catastrophicly wrong.

Buy a better quality shelf. I'd only use Detolfs for action figures. Otherwise I wouldn't trust them with anything other than small busts.
