Default SDCC Gentle Giant Booth Display Pics

The new GG piece are suprisingly impressive. I LOVE their Venom statue, Hawkeye bust and statue, Capt on Bike and Hulk bust.

Oh yeah. While I wish the scale was closer to Bowen's (for the busts), they are really knocking it out of the park with the sculpts. I love almost 99% of what they've done Marvel related so far and I'm head over heels or that Moon Knight bust.

That being said, the scale is still an issue for me. If they eep the line going long enough for me to feel comfortable that it's not going to be a one phase and done kind of thing, I'll go back and pick them all up. I just want to make sure I can have a healthy GG Marvel display because I wouldn't mix them with my Bowens.

RIP, Kirk (aka Ace). You will be missed, brother.

That's the best Venom I've seen in years. Neon2102, the sign says that it is a book end so it may not be that big.

Me too! I really hope this is a regular release and not an exclusive.

I'd like to see them give Wasp and Ant man some love. No really good sculpts out there. IMHO. Nexus 7

What the heck... is that Deadpool's dog?
I might have to pick that up since the only other GG piece I own is Squirrelpool.
I like the GG stuff as a casual observer, but I haven't been driven to buy any of it aside from that one irresistable piece. I think a lot of the poses look forced and I don't think the added level of detail makes them look better than the more stylized Bowen busts I own. I think the detail can work against them and I susupect that's something Randy Bowen discovered long ago. Too much detail isn't always a good thing. There are pieces that beg for detail and others where it's preferable your mind provides it from obvious or subtle clues the sculptor gives you. I think Bowen is way better at that, but they've been doing it longer than anyone else. Much longer.
In fact I can't look at a lot of these pieces and not wonder if I would be looking at them at all if Bowen hadn't added arms to Electro many moons ago.
To be fair I have to admit I've never actually seen a GG bust up close and in person. I almost hope I never do because they are really interesting and god knows I can't afford to collect another bust line.

I haven't seen these busts in person but judging by these pics, i can honestly say that GG's Venom, Moonknight, Deadpool and Hawkeye busts are considerably more attractive than the busts released by Bowen Designs.

The bookends are all about ten inches tall.
