I haven't seen it, but I have one question are they showing it in 2d at all? I refuse to see anything ever again in 3D.
Yes. The theatres around here are offering it both ways. What don't you like about 3-D? I LOVE it when it's shot 3-D ala Avatar, but am not a fan of upconversions.

I agree when it's shot in 3d yes and the reason it worked in Avatar was becasue most of the move was all CGI and most of the 3d was in the background,
But other than that it's just a stupid gimmick, I don't care about for, and it does nothing for me. it's just a cash grab.
Now if you do 3D for aminated kids movies I am all for that, the kids will like it and 3d I find it useful with animation not live action.
Both Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were excellent in the film.
The first half of the film, despite being focused on the retelling of an origin story we have all seen before, was the best part of the movie for me. I did not enjoy the Lizard as the villain.
I gotta say, as a comic book fan, it's so hard for me to judge this movie! The changes really bugged me. Also, I sat there and was judging it against Sam Raimi's film. Well? What did I think?
It was good. It was pretty good. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were excellent. I feel in love with the character of Gwen just as I had when I read the old comics. The movie is beautifully shot. The music was gorgeous (I love Horner!). After sitting there for 2+ hours, I wish it was longer. I really wanted to see more of Gwen and Peter and Peter and Aunt May, so that's saying something. Yeah...good movie, BUT...not as magical as the Sam Raimi original. As much as I liked Garfield, I prefer Tobey. I also feel that Raimi's tempo was much truer to the comics.
OK, what bugged me...
- The costume. HATE it!
- No "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" line.
- The total removal of Peter not stopping The Burglar, which causes Uncle Ben's death.
- No trapping of The Burglar in a warehouse where Peter learns that his inaction caused Uncle Ben's death, which forms the soul of Spider-Man.
- Peter doesn't create the web fluid. Oscorp does.
- Peter's father creating the spider.
- The look of The Lizard. They couldn't have given him a snout & let him wear the lab jacket? Really?
- Captain Stacy asking Peter to stay away from Gwen as opposed to the comics, where he asks him to watch over her.
- Gwen finding out way too soon about Peter. She never did in the comics. She hated Spidey for her Dad's death. They could've at least saved that for a reveal at the end of the next movie.
I dunno...it was good. It wasn't as fun or as magical as the Raimi film. It's worth seeing, but I probably won't see it in the theater again.
I saw the midnight showing last night in imax 3D. I thought the movie was great. Really loved the interaction between Pete and Gwen. But yea thought it was too soon for him to reveal his identity. The Stan Lee cameo was funny. The costume wasn't that bad in the action sequences.
Also there were technical difficulties 5 minutes into the movie so they had to start it over and everyone got a free ticket out of it
I really liked it. When it started I was ready for a let down. Within 20 minutes I was totally engaged. By the end, I was a big fan.
It's a great movie. It's shot well. It's well acted. And the story is paced very well. For those thinking they'll be seeing the same movie Sam Raimi made, I can assure you that this will be a completely different movie.
The thing that stuck out most to me through the whole film was: where is "The CW" logo? The CW completely describes the target audience of this film. Raimi's film had a much wider demographic appeal. And doing a Spider Man origin movie without the iconic quote is reprehensible. I think if I had watched it on tv in the old Smallville time slot I would have given it more lee way.

Yeah, it felt kinda geared towards the Twilight/Hunger Games crowd.
Meh....
It was enjoyable, but to much talking, Peter was meh, May was meh, Gwen was great. Spiderman action was great. They should have let Joss Whedon cut the movie because it was about 20 minutes too long for me.
I liked the Lizard,as a Villian, even if he looked like a long tailed Sleestack. Also, his face reminded me of the terrible Mario Bros Live action movie.

I really don't see how emma stone couldn't be better then dunst. dunst was so miscast as mary jane parker to me. i know emma is gwen, but still... from the reviews here I'll guess I'll go see it.
I saw this movie and I thought it was an OK movie. Not entirely comic book accurate. The only part that I liked in this is Spidermans agility. It was alot better than the first three. I missed the end scence at the mid credits which introduces the next villian. So I might end up watching this again.
