i really like it, it's just that it felt a bit un-punisher like when he let those people beat up the kid and harass the girl. maybe this is meant to be the first time he finally snapped.
It definitely wasn't meant to show when he first snapped, because the shirt his sone gave him was shown clearly at the end with a bullet hole in it. Plus he had a shell casing in his pocket when he was looking for change.
I think TJ was trying to show the human side of Frank Castle - where he starts to feel like that guy in the liquor store...that no matter how many he takes out, more thugs just pop up to replace them. Then he resolves himself to the fact that it's just going to be an ongoing fight...and punishment is served. Another day, another dirtbag in the ground.
What I really liked about the Jane Punisher, which maybe some of the hardcore fans didn't like, was that instead of just his wife and kid getting killed, it was his entire family. There was a slaughter at a family reunion. That sort of made more sense to me as far as what it would take for a person to snap and take on the violent vigilante approach to life.
Sorry.....murdering my wife and kids would be enough for me to snap. Wouldn't take more than that.

I have to agree with Steve. Way everything is in the world...
If my Wife and Son were killed it would be a short trip for me to start evening the numbers.
When your whole world revolves around two people and they get ripped away from you by some sh1t heads, it would be a short trip to the gun cabinet before I started evening the cosmic scales.
Thanks for sharing :-)
I loved this, the style, the acting, the tone. To me, this is the Punisher. Remember, he's not a hero, he is this screwed up guy. He punish, he's not about saving, he punish the bad. This is how they should have made the Punisher movies.
thank you very much for posting this incredibly cool short movie. Woohah; I liked it a lot!
I must admit that I liked the Punisher War Zone movie as well but the Punisher we see in this movie really kicks ass the way the Punisher would do by having no mercy and taking no prisoners...

There's a difference between getting revenge on those who killed your wife and kid, either on your own or through the justice system, and taking on the whole criminal underground as a lifestyle. I'm sorry but I don't believe either of you would become lifelong violent vigilantes without limits if that horrendous crime were to happen to you. Now if your entire extended family were to be killed, I might see you going off the deep end.

That's where I greatly disagree. Not saying its realistic to become a vigilante, my view is that the loss of wife and kids is enough to push a man over the edge. Don't need a family reunion to do it, hell.....I wouldn't shed a tear over a lot of the reunion attendees.

Its not just becoming a vigilante though. Batman is a vigilante, but he's no Punisher. The Punisher kills his enemies, as a lifestyle choice. That takes an extra special kind vendetta, that I think having every single member of one's family killed might make a person form. It's not the individual members of the family that matter in that circumstance, its the fact that they are all killed. Every single member of a person's family, from a wife and kid, to uncles, aunts, the list goes on. Although you may not have a close relationship with all the people in your extended family, you probably have one with some of them. That much loss is more than any one person can imagine, even beyond the loss of losing a spouse and kid.
Anyway, the point is, that the first Punisher movie felt more realistic to me than the comic book. I'm just sayin'.

The one with Dolf Lungren as the Punisher?
I'm with Steve and company. Wife and kids are the ultimate fuse for any walking time bomb...especially for a decorated Marine who has seen enough action to have a big ol' hairy case of PTSD.

This was a really good short. The Punisher comic is what got me into reading them and I love the whole essence of this dedication. Thomas Jane play Frank any time, as far as I'm concerned!

Somebody on another forum said this: his behavior makes sense if you see this as an extension of Jane's movie. In that movie, he was focused more on revenge for the death of his family than on punishing crime in general. This could bridge the gap between him punishing just those responsible for his family's death and punishing all criminals.

Did everyone forget that they shot Punisher/Jane also with the family? But he came back as retribution on that family that killed his and then the movie ended????
