GoTG Movie: Line-up confirmed

I'm not sure if this is old news or not, but I stumbled across some concept art for the Guardians of the Galaxy movie which will also be featuring Thanos as the main villain.

I found this while reading about how Marvel had basically snubbed Jim Starlin after teasing his creation as the big baddie at the end of the Avengers.

Looks like it's been confirmed that Bautista (former WWE Champion wrestler) will play Drax the Destroyer! Hopefully he can act!? He's got the look...but we'll see how he can play the role.

Wow he sure fits the role like you said. Definetly hope he can act. He was pretty bad@ss when he first got in the WWE.

I've actually seen in some action B-Flick with Jean-Claude Van Damme and he wasn't bad at all and from what I understand, he's gotten some other roles under his belt since then.

I told my wife who was confirmed for the role of Starlord (Chris Pratt) and she wasn't impressed. I have no clue who he is and haven't seen anything he has been in so far, but I remain optimistic.

The only non-cgi character left to cast from the GoTG team is Gamora. From what I've read, they are looking at Gina Carano, Olivia Wilde, or Adrianne Palicki. Of course, non of the actors originally being considered for Starlord got the role so who knows...

There has also been talks of either Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey to voice the role of Rocket Raccoon.

Watch Quintin Tarantinos Man with the Ironfist. Bautista play Brass Body in the movie. His Role as Drax will probably be the same. Not to many lines but alot of fighting.

I for one am concerned with this casting news. I think one of the things that has made the latest marvel movies a success is getting well known actors who can actually act. Now this doesn't mean everyone needs to be well known or even the star for that matter, but we need someone big to ensure that we are going to get a great movie. This IP is a gamble, noncomic fans can get behind Avengers and the other movies, because those were big heavy hitter Marvel characters that everyone knew, and for the most part were all played by big actors or big on the rise actors. GOTG isn't well known, and to add another thing against it, it's in space and has weird childish looking aliens. I think it will need some clout by an A lister for it to work.

By casting Bautista, I get the feeling it's a casting call from an old Wizard magazine and not in line with what Marvel has done in it's recent success.

I know Chris Pratt is also confirmed, and has been in some big movies, but I only know him from Parks and Recreation (and I love him in it), however, I don't think many know who he is or could be considered a rising star at this point in time.

Bautista was in that recent Riza movie (can't remember the title). His character looked cool, and had presence but never spoke. Kinda concerning that he is playing such a main role in the Marvel U now.
I'm trying to keep the faith, but in the end I may be disappointed if Thanos doesn't just B-slap them and send 'em packin'. It would be a good intro to his badassness, and a nice build up to the next Avengers film.

...and please don't let Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey anywhere near this movie
