Here he is. I guess the limited part must be the ones for retail sale. Not sure i am getting this but real real tempted.

I only recently bought the mark VI Iron Man, not knowing at the time that this one was coming out.
After some deliberation, I decided to buy this one though, love the head sculpt and an Avengers base to go with the other Avengers figures I have on pre-order.
Maybe I will keep the other one and display with battle damage and this one with Tony Stark head. Otherwise there is always ebay....

would be cool to have a constant battle damaged one on display for sure. this one will either make the early one worth more or less. I say more simply do to the damaged stuff that comes with the first run IM2 version

As someone new to collecting Hot Toys, I find it strange that a new figure is announced as "in stock".
Although I guess the only difference between this and the previous mark VI is the head sculpt, stand and packaging - but is this unusual for Hot Toys?

It kind of is yes. The only times they do it like that is for stuff like this though. Something already ready to go. Even then it is usually a month or so. Last I saw was the batman SDCC jumpsuit exclusive. I haven't bought them from the start date till the mark IV and beyond came. Others I had to get here and there.
But like you said. He was ready just needed a new head and so on. Shame they didn't announce he was going to be available though. Would have saved many a good amount of cash

Does anyone know an estimate of how many hot toys makes of a figure that isnt like the Iron Man VI Movie Promo? If 3000 is a limited number then for the other regular hot toys, is the production run like 6000+?

it varies from piece to piece. some appear to stay as open editions way longer than others. if a piece is limited, they usually put that edition size tag when it goes on sale.

point is, you never know when one day the piece you've procrastinated on ordering is now sold out and no longer available anywhere. that's when the price skyrockets on ebay.
