Default Citizen Alpha from Cypress, Texas USA

First Name - Kenn
Year Born - 1971
Country - US
City & State (Province, etc...) -Born in Ft.Worth, TX. Residing in Cypress, TX
Relationship Status - Happily married
Children - 1. Maddy - my pride & joy and pint-sized partner in crime

Pets - Rocky (9 year old Shih Tzu) and two gerbils, Hulk and Thing
Occupation - Metrologist - not to be confused with a meteorologist
How did you find out about Statue Marvels? - stumbled across it trying to find places to buy Bowen mini-busts during my initial buyng frenzy a year and a half ago
Favorite Comic Book Company - Marvel
First Comic Book - that I remember vividly - Fantastic Four #186, quickly started working backwards from there
All Time Favorite Comic Characters - Captain America, Thor, Daredevil, Luke Cage,Punisher, Hawkeye, Moonknight, Ghost Rider (Blaze) and Thing
Favorite Mini-Bust Producer - Bowen Designs. Don't have a second favorite.
Favorite Mini-Bust - Tough one. Arcade, Ringmaster, Dr. Doom, Sandman, Hobgoblin, Son of Satan, Man-Ape and the most recent Cap are all high on my list
Favorite Sections on Statue Marvels? Carve away the stone and random "Bowen Wish List" threads

Do Your eBay Sales Appear in this Section?...Members eBay Auctions - No. I'm more of a consumer than a seller.

Your Local Comic Shop - Heroes World & 8th Dimension Comics, but since I stopped buying new comics in the 1992/93 I generally only buy supplies outside of some kiddie comics for my daughter
Invite them to start a thread here...COMIC SHOPS
I collect - Bowen mini-busts, resin or ceramic Marvel character coin banks, silver and bronze age comics and Marvel related prints/lithos.

I enjoy - Movies with the wife, hanging out with my daughter, chasing down higher grade vintage comics, reading...mostly fantasy (huge Moorcock fan) mixed with a little polictical intrigue, working out (used to be fun - mostly a necessity these days...bones are getting a tad creaky) and recently - sculpting.

Favorite Type of Music - a little of everything
Favorite Band or Musical Artist - Lenny Kravitz, Chris Daughtry, George Strait, Staind, Eagles, Randy Travis, Boston, the Commodores and Chicago...to name a few
Favorite Movies - Conan the Barbarian (probably wouldn't be as cool as I remember if I watched it now), Seven, Shawshank Redemption, Of Mice and Men and Saving Private Ryan, Dancing with Wolves and Braveheart
Favorite CURRENT TV Shows - Game of Thrones and American Chopper
Favorite Food -pancit and lumpia
Do you drink? No
Favorite Drinks - a big ol' glass of iced tea
Favorite Vacation Spots - Puerto Rico and Jamaica, in the US - Florida coast

Tell us more...I quit collecting new comics almost 20 years ago, but starting working backwards from there -snatching up everything Marvel from the bronze and silver age every since. Discovered Bowen about a year and a half ago and I'm hooked to this day. Seeing the work here in the Carve away the stone section combined with a decreasing number of mini-busts inspired me to take up sculping myself recently. http://www.statuemarvels.com/f209/my...ing-11037.html Still a rook, but I'm working on it. More importantly - I'm really enjoying it. Married to a wonderful woman who not only tolerates my comic driven OCD, but who also gave me the best gift I've ever received - my daughter Maddy.

Just want to thank Al and Gene for giving me a place to chat about comics and related sculptures ( Lord knows I can't do it at home), to Insomniac, Tigertank and jgurein117 for such mind blowing collections that I couldn't help but get sucked into this hobby and Willie Lumpkin for his tireless campaigning on behalf of us classic/obscure mini-bust lovers. Thanks to all of you other members for all the wonderful threads and resin eye candy!

RIP, Kirk (aka Ace). You will be missed, brother.

Well...ummm....depends on who you ask

Actually, she's been hanging out in Daddy's special room for almost half her life. She's 3 1/2 now and I started collecting Bowen MBs when she was two. Every day she would ask who was who, then she started telling me which bust was married to which bust etc. When we would go to Best Buy, Target etc she would gravitate to Thor or Wolverine over Strawberry Shortcake because that's who she grew up with.

True story - we actually got her to start sleeping in her own bed by bribing her with the Alex Ross busts. She has her own display in her bedroom now of Wolverine, Thing, Spiderman, the Goblin, Captain America as well as a Wonderwoman mb/paperweight, some mini muggs and a dozen or so Superhero Squad characters. At three and a half she can name about 1/2 of my 250 or so MBs and actually notices when I add a new MB within a few minutes of entering my office. Don't ya know the wife just looovvvess it.

Dude, I've been sweating that since the day the doc told me it was going to be a girl...to which I said, "Can you check again....maybe "it's" just small...I am half Filipino after all"...a statement which was met by a sharp elbow and a look that could stop a raging bull in its tracks.

I can't even imagine not having a little girl now and I figure I have at least 6 or 7 more years before she starts to be embarrassed by daddy and his Avengers/Captain America t-shirts....and another 3 after that before she starts telling me how she hates me because I won't let her date. After that I figure I have another 12 or so years before I have to sell off my loot to pay for her wedding with some punk kid that thinks Superman looks cool in his (by then) "classic" Jim Lee armored costume

Yeah - my wife always gives me the business about my soothsaying. I don't know how close it'll end up being to the truth, but from what I've seen in my time on this earth - it won't be too far off when it's all said and done.

Now I just need to work on having a boy so when I kick the bucket on a Sunday, all my loot doesn't end up on Ebay on Monday with .99starting bid, NR auctions.

I was just born there. Dad was in the Airforce so we moved around every few years. Came back to Texas around 5-6 years old and been here every since ( excluding my time in the military and a few years of wanderlust that followed).
