Default WETA Barad-Dur - Fortress of Sauron

the companion piece for the $250 black tower of isengard below.

a mere 4" taller, weta sets their retail price to an unbelievable mark.... $699.00!!!!!

back from their recent trip to SDCC, the weta crew had to have set their price based on what they saw at comic con. a beautifully detailed environment but $700???

i see no reason to escalate the retail price to this. i DID NOT order, and to be honest, i'm pissed. i've waited for this tower since i started collecting in 2005. and to top it off, there isn't even an eye of sauron that lights. the danbury mint put out a version of barad-dur i picked up a couple of years ago for $200 with an awesome light up eye. looks like that will have to do.

once again GREED infiltrates this wonderful hobby. i will never order another item from weta!!!!

From the pics, I like the light up one more anyway. Oddball, can you post your towers. I would love to see them. Also, I think I saw a riverrun posted on the SDCC pics. Do you know if they did Minas Tirith?

If you see the collection thread in new posts, it's because new pics have been added.

Yeah - Weta have got really greedy in the lead up to the Hobbit films and I'm going to give the whole product line a miss this time around. I ordered the Uruk-Hai General's Helm which came in the post last week. $62 shipped which is a fair increase on the price of previous helms. But what they left in the small print is that unlike all previous helmets it ISN'T MADE FROM METAL! It's made out of cheap thin plastic! With all the copyright details printed in bold bright white on the base at the rim which is visible when on display. It looks like something you'd get out of a dispenser machine at the supermarket. Very disappointed.
