It really amazes me that there are still so many pre-sellers on eBay considering what a bad rep pre-selling now has. A lot of the bad rep comes from this particular seller. The savings when buying pre-sell items really aren't so great that they're worth the risk. Sellers like Discount Comic Book Service (cameronmerkler on eBay), M&M Comics and Absolutecomicsandstatues sell the same items on eBay within days of their release at just as reasonable prices and they have the items IN STOCK. I buy most of my new busts from DCBS now because they are like clockwork. I can always count on them listing a newly-released Bowen bust within hours of the announcement that some fan has received their shipment of it from Bowen. They always offer free shipping and get the item to you promptly, keeping you advised by email of every step of the process. It just boggles my mind to think that I used to order pre-sells and then wait weeks or months without a single word before the item would finally show - usually quite a while after it was available at the local comic shop. I really hope that as more people JUST SAY NO TO PRE-SELLS , the practice will become as extinct as the dodo. The thought of new collectors who might not be aware of the pitfalls of pre-selling yet continuing to fall for this BS is really irritating.
How about some good news for a change?
fireslinger333 contacted me by email last week and asked which busts I had ordered from him that were not delivered. Since I had already bought the busts he owed me from other eBay sellers, he offered me a choice of FS statues as replacement for the busts. Today I received a new Bucky WWII statue from him and we are now square. More than the excitement of finally adding a Bucky to my 3 Caps, my faith in eBay sellers, fireslinger333 in particular and mankind in general has been restored. Even I started to doubt the guy after so long, but he is attempting to contact buyers and fill orders. Apparently his supplier screwed him out of thousands of dollars of paid-for product and he is pursuing legal action against him. Good luck to him. I have to say that receiving that statue today was worth a lot more than any monetary cost. I'll probably get a little lift every time I see that statue from now on.
I haven't ordered anything from this seller but I have been screwed by a pre-order on Ebay. Paid for a pre-order and it passed 45 days. I forgot about it and then there was
nothing I could do but eat a lost. It was a preorder for a skeletor bust from the 4 horsemen. I was out $60 bucks.
My advice is never order preorders on Ebay. I've order pre-orders from sideshow toys and alter ego comics and never had a problem. Even when the items were in the warehouses 2-3 months later the item would always come.
