Default When does a statue reach "Grail" status

Ok so I was looking at my collection relaxing and a question entered my brain.. " what makes a statue a "grail"? I think I have a few grail statues but I am not sure.
my grail statues are
1. GG Kneeling Darth Vader
2. 9/11 captain America
3. RB Death Dealer
4. RB Dark Phoenix

I dont know if I have anymore. If you would like to look at what I have and see if I have any "Grails" I would love to know.. Thanks for looking and your imput

a grail in terms of value is an item, usually long sold out, that is highly sought after and people are willing to pay an inflated price to add it to their collection.

but a grail to a collector is any piece that the collector values above the rest, in terms of desired collectivity and not necessarily monetary value, although sometimes they go hand in hand.

I dont know if I would ever get to the point. $350 is about my limit right now. I would love to find a archangle or ghostrider for that amount though

A piece is a grail when it is desired by the individual but hard to obtain.

If you see the collection thread in new posts, it's because new pics have been added.

but to a collector, a grail is a piece that they've wanted above most but haven't added it. it doesn't have to be unattainable, just not secured.

but the point of view not discussed is the seller's. a grail would be one that the seller could at least double his money when flipping, selling or auctioning.

love those grails!!! and so does the dolphin!!!

My limit is 300$ for a statue. I think all my statues are my grail. Cuz i take pride on all of them. And every statue i purchased was a hauntgame on ebay, besides my pre-orders!

For me my grails are EP II clone trooper busts right now. It took some time to track down and I ended up getting them.

Mine was Bowen Classic Venom. Got it eventually for just less than market value, which was my aim. Never any regrets with this piece - still makes me smile when I see it!

I think Oddball basically got it right...to me there are two grails; your personal grail(s) and a collector's grail.

Your personal grail is something that holds personal value to you. Like a character you grew up liking.

A collectors grail is what Oddball described: Long sold out, highly sought after/demanded, possibly low ES, etc.

I have to agree with Oddball as well. For me a grail is something that I have always wanted but have never been able to obtain for one reason or another. It isnt always price either - sometimes the situation and timing was just off.
Example I have long sought after the Grendel Prime statue, but recently bought something else just as one came on ebay - sh!t happens.
Another Grail is the Bowen Batman. I really do hope that the SS Batman brings the price down on this one by a bit. It is also becoming very difficult to find one with the box intact. Go figure.

Great question. I agree that "grail" status is personal, for the most part.

For me, it's gotta be the Bowen bronzes, especially Cap and Spidey. I will own at least one of those two someday!
