Default Do fluorescent lights harm statues?

Hi, does anyone here know whether fluorescent lighting damages statues or their paint jobs? I know sunlight fades paints and was wondering what other light sources to watch out for.

From what I've read on these forums, any light will eventually fade paint, but I'm not living in a cave so my paint will last 50 years. I've also seen pics of some of Randy B's stuff displayed in areas with abundant natural light. If he ain't worried about that, I wouldn't worry about flourescent lighting.

Short of not exposing them to direct sunlight, I don't go out of my way to protect them from other light sources. That's my two cents anyways - it's not like we're talking about Faberge Eggs or something.

Yes, fluorescent bulbs will harm your collection. I would not install them near valuable art (like these statues we collect). UV spectrum and heat are specifically what is the most damaging to pigments, so minimizing it is advisable. Sunlight is the most damaging, followed by fluorescent, incandescent, then LED. I'd highly recommend picking up LED pucks or strips from a place like IKEA.
