i don't see any merit to the storyline by changing the character's sexual preference. this is simply a publicity stunt to sell more comics. gay men and women should be outraged that their fight for gay marriage and relationship equality in the eyes of the law is being used as a shameless sales promotion.

I don't know about that. I have gay friends who are into comics and think its great.
I guess it depends on your point of view. Making a character gay makes the news no matter what. Even if you did it with the best of attention it would draw massive media attention.
If it didn't make the news it would be because no one cared.... but obviously people do.
I think Northstar's wedding is a great thing in comics. Its proper attention to a hot button topic and its good Character Develpoment for him.
I just think the Alan Scott thing may have been knee jerk based on its timing.
They did make Colossus gay in the ultimate line. He was dating Northstar.

Earth-2 is supported by 2 books and exists outside of the regular 52. It is easy to relegate that to the "elseworlds" type of retcon than a b list main stay character.
